Real Couple: Molly & Jamie

In this Real Couple Blog we look back at Molly and Jamie’s fabulous Day in July.

Where: The Boundary at Garon Park, Southend.  This venue has always been a unique proposition, nestled on the side of a cricket pitch next to a busy sports centre you will find; a fixed, clear sided Marquee; a hand crafted, wooden Gazebo with bench seating; or in the underside of the scoreboard, a courtyard ceremony space complete with subtle lighting and decorative draping.

First Contact:  Molly got in touch with me after she and Jamie had viewed the Boundary and realised it was exactly the venue for them. Being a recommended supplier meant that Charlotte, the manager, was happy to hand over my contact details and after a telephone conversations where we talked about how they wanted the day to look and feel, our couple were happy to book the date in my diary. I did a home visit in January and met them and their little whirlwind of a son, Stanley (the mini-me of Jamie!) and after a brief game of cars we got planning.

Of course Stanley had to be an active part of the day and so we settled on a little bit of responsibility for this little fella who is so switched on, he was to be our very own Lord of The Rings and he was to hand me a box of rings in return for a high five and a bag of chocolate buttons. I missed the high five but as soon as the job was done Stanley and his buttons were out of there!! Doesn’t he look great in his dinner jacket and Vans combo though?

Wedding Day: The details on the day were brilliant. The Groom and his best men looked stunning in their dinner jackets and black ties. The flowers were white roses, with gypsophila and green foliage and the back drop in the scoreboard was a hanging faux Wisteria arrangement.

Molly arrived with her best girls in a VW Camper van. The bridesmaids wore sage green, Molly’s mum (who escorted her down the aisle) was in a gorgeous Navy two piece and as for the bride’s dress was a stunning satin bodice with split and flared satin skirt – complete with pockets! I know!! Apparently it was full of hair grips, tissues, a lippy and spare pack of buttons for Stan emergencies!!

Celebrant Led: Molly and Jamie choses a Celebrant Led wedding for two reasons. Firstly, they are super laid back and have a really tight knit group of friends and family who mean the world to them, so they just wanted to share a celebration in a meaningful way with them and including them, so I made sure to write a story that name dropped the key players and recognised the support that they had received from friends and family. We also introduced humour into the story and vows because they wanted to feel relaxed and reflect their personalities in the ceremony – no problem.

The second reason, was because The Boundary has not applied for a wedding licence. The don’t need one, more and more people are choosing Celebrant led weddings, we fit with their aesthetic and feel and their clients are looking to put together bespoke packages, which only celebrants will offer. Molly and Jamie took care of their legal paperwork a couple of days before their ceremony and then had a nice meal out with their witnesses afterwards.
